New outdoor columnist introduced to Times Observer

Steve Sorensen

Beginning Saturday, April 6, The Post-Journal and the Warren Times Observer will add Steve Sorensen to its pages with his bi-weekly column, “The Everyday Hunter.”

Sorensen’s award-winning work has appeared in many magazines, newspapers and websites. Since 2005, he has been recognized with more than 30 awards from state, regional and national outdoor writer organizations. He won “Best Newspaper Column” in Pennsylvania three times, and he’s a three-time winner of the “Pinnacle Award” from the Professional Outdoor Media Association, the highest honor this national organization gives.

Sorensen’s acute appreciation for rural life, where guns and hunting permeate the culture in positive ways, was sharpened by living in places where he couldn’t hunt, including Boston, Kansas City and Washington, D.C. His education took him from a two-room rural schoolhouse to a theological seminary.

Sorensen is the author of several books including his newest, The Caretaker Predator, scheduled for release in 2024. He is a field contributor for Deer and Deer Hunting magazine, and has written for many national and state magazines. He also designed his own very successful turkey call.

Sorensen uses his writing and speaking opportunities to get people thinking and talking about hunting, its positive values even for non-hunters, and the life issues that connect to the outdoor world. He has spoken at almost 200 sportsman’s dinners and other events, from Atlanta to Burtts Corner, New Brunswick, and as far west as Billings, Montana. You can learn more about him at www.EverydayHunter.com.
