Playoff road continues this week
County boys basketball teams from Warren, Eisenhower and Youngsville will continue their pursuit of District 10 titles on Tuesday with semifinal playoffs games in their respective classifications.
WARREN BOYS
With a 72-52 win over Corry in the quarterfinals, Warren’s boys basketball team (18-5) advances to the D10 4A semifinals to play Grove City (14-9) — a 58-48 winner over Harbor Creek — at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at General McLane High School in Edinboro.
EISENHOWER BOYS
For the price of one ticket, Eisenhower’s boys basketball team precedes the Warren game at General McLane High School. County fans can watch Eisenhower (19-4) play Iroquois (12-11) in the D10 2A semis at 6 p.m. Tuesday at General McLane High School.
Eisenhower defeated Sharpsville, 68-44, and Iroquois beat Lakeview, 54-49, to bring us to this point. Eisenhower also edged Iroquois, 55-50, in an early December regular-season game.
YOUNGSVILLE BOYS
In Class 1A, No. 4-seeded Youngsville (8-14) and top-seeded Farrell (17-5) receive byes into their semifinal game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Farrell High School.
WARREN GIRLS
The Lady Dragons defeated General McLane, 46-16, on Saturday to advance to a semifinal playoff rematch with Harbor Creek (13-9) at 6 p.m. Wednesday, back at Mercyhurst University.
The Huskies defeated Grove City, 55-33, on Saturday to advance to the semifinals.
Harbor Creek and now junior 1,000-point scorer Brooke Przybylski defeated Warren, 55-44, in last year’s D10 4A playoffs.
YOUNGSVILLE GIRLS
In Class 1A, the top-seeded Lady Eagles (7-15) receive a bye into the D10 championship game on Saturday at a site and time to be determined. Youngsville will play the winner of No. 2 Rocky Grove (7-15) and No. 3 Jamestown, Pennsylvania (5-15), which will meet in a semifinal matchup at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sharon High School.
