RUSSELL — The Eisenhower Knights completed a season sweep of Maplewood with a 65-32 Region 3 boys basketball win Tuesday night.

The Knights (14-4) had little trouble with the Tigers (1-18) as four Knights starters were in double figures, led by senior Kyler Black’s 16 points. Casey Seymour added 14, Kris Bunk had 13 and Austin Hanson had 10.

Eisenhower used a nine-point first quarter by Bunk to lead 14-8 after the first quarter.

The Knights came out trapping Maplewood on defense and took full advantage of the turnovers as they exploded for 26 second-quarter points, highlighted by Bunk’s corner 3-pointer. He led the Knights with 9 points in the quarter. Eisenhower’s aggressive defense held the Tigers to just seven points in the quarter. The Knights led at the half 40-15.

Eisenhower increased its lead to 60-24 at the end of the third quarter, allowing head coach Ryan Mangini the ability to clear his bench and rest his starters.

With a running clock for the fourth quarter, the Knights defeated the Tigers 65-32.

The Knights were led by Black with 16 points, while Maplewood was led by Kyle Jordan’s 13 points.

In JV action, the Tigers defeated the Knights 48-43.

Eisenhower is back in action tonight when it travels to Youngsville to face the Eagles in a county clash.
