Lady Dragons return home for big win over Bradford

It’s been 17 days since Warren’s girls basketball team last played at home, and the Dragons jumped out to a big lead in a 62-21 win over Bradford on Monday at Warren Area High School.
Six players scored in Warren’s 17-3 first quarter, and the Dragons won every quarter to improve to 6-4 overall. Bradford is 3-7.
“The girls have been waiting to play at home again,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan. “Heck, they were just very ready for a game.”
Sophomore Meea Irwin led seven Warren scorers with 18 points, including three of the Dragons’ ten 3-pointers. Another sophomore, Peyton Wotorson added three 3-pointers of her own and ended with 13 points. Senior point guard Sammie Ruhlman had two 3-pointers and 12 points. Senior Halle Kuzminski scored seven of her nine points in a 35-11 first half.
Haley Keane led Bradford with 15 of its 21 points.
Monday’s game was Warren’s first since a three-game trip in Florida from Dec. 27-30.
