Dragons’ swimmers prep at Prep

ERIE — Warren’s swimmers had an opportunity to compete “at a fast pool” on Thursday at Cathedral Prep, according to Warren coach Russ Beyer.

Despite team losses, Samantha Caudill won the 200-yard Individual medley in 2:30.21, Gracie Page edged teammate Kinzlea Chase in a battle of freshmen divers, 173.45 points to 173.30, and Katie Krogler won the 500-yard freestyle by less than two seconds in 5:49.77. In fact, Caudill was third in 5:52.03.

Warren’s Lilly Newton was second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.55, losing by just five-10ths of a second. Leyna Irwin was second in the seven-swimmer 50-yard freestyle in 26.83 seconds and second in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.44.

“We had this date circled on the schedule,” said Beyer. “It matched up well swimming at a fast pool about a month out from districts; gave our swimmers an opportunity to see where they stand in regard to the rest of D10, and to build some confidence to what is to come.

“One of my best dual meets as a coach,” he said of the Dragons. “The team compiled 13 personal-bests.”

PR’s included Brody Alexander in the 200 IM, Violet Spiegel in the 100 Free, Newton in both the 50 free and 100 breaststroke, Jen Giger in the 200 free and 100 fly — just missing district-qualifying times in both, Brady Caudill by seven seconds in the 100 back, Lexi Paris in the 50 free and 100 fly, Emma Peterson in the 200 free and 500 free, and Lani Wenzel in the 50 free and 100 free.

Starting at $4.00/week.
