Warren girls win tourney opener
Warren senior Sammie Ruhlman scored 21 points in a 62-25 win over Union City on Friday in the first round of the Lady Dragons’ Tip-Off Tournament at Warren Area High School.
Warren won every quarter to advance to tonight’s championship game against Buffalo, N.Y.’s Sacred Heart Academy.
“It was a bit slow of a start, but the girls settled in,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan. “First-game jitters, for sure. I was very happy with how they settled in and stayed after it.”
Ruhlman had 8 points in the Dragons’ 25-1 fourth quarter to seal it.
Alyssa Farr finished with 11 points and seven Dragons scored in the win.
