Warren girls swim past Bradford
BRADFORD — Warren’s swim teams split at Bradford on Monday in the second dual meet of the season.
“As a whole, we looked pretty good,” said Warren coach Russ Beyer, whose Lady Dragons won, 102-57. The undermanned boys lost their team dual, 22-113. “Did we hit a lot of best times? No, but people competed and we’re right where we want to be.”
For the boys, Drake Niemetz earned two individual wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.28) and 500 free (5:29.30) by less than a second. Brody Alexander won the 100 breaststroke (1:17.03), and he was second in the 200 individual medley.
For the Lady Dragons, Lilly Newton won the 50 free in 28.27 seconds. Maddie Walker (1:11.50), Emma Peterson and Eliza Brook finished 1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke. Violet Spiegel won the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.09. Samantha Caudill won the girls’ 500 free in 5:56.40, and she was second in the 200 individual medley. The 400 free relay team of Newton, Katie Krogler, Walker and Peterson won in 4:20.81, and Leyna Irwin, Caudill, Krogler and Newton won the 200 free relay by .30 seconds in 1:55.20.
In addition, Lexi Paris dropped seven seconds to finish second in the 100 butterfly in 1:18.78.
Warren’s home opener against Titusville is on Thursday at the Warren County YMCA.
