JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Warren junior Adika Fiscus finished second on Saturday at the Southern Tier Wrestling Officials Association Tournament at Jamestown Community College’s Physical Education Complex.
Fiscus, Warren’s top finisher, was 3-0 before a 5-2 decision loss to Lewiston-Porter’s Jaron Barrientos in the 116-pound championship. Fiscus had two pins and a major decision to reach the final.
“Adika looked good taking second,” said Warren coach Glenn Baldensperger. “Ethen Ringer lost his first match and battled back to take sixth.”
A freshman at 138 pounds, Ringer won by technical fall in the second period over Frewsburg’s Drake Beckstrom; pinned Starpoint’s Dylan Scovazzo; and won a 4-2 decision over Canisteo-Greenwood’s Mathias Sharp. He finished 3-3 after losing a 5-2 decision to Randolph’s Domanik Clark in the fifth-place match.
Also for Warren, Ryan Fitzsimmons and Cameron Williams won two matches apiece, and Ryan Letko and Conner Zaffino one apiece, before falling in the consolation rounds on Saturday.
Eisenhower’s top finisher was Tucker Lindell, who took third at 160 pounds. Teammate Cole Kellogg was fifth at 160 pounds.
At 152 pounds, Derek Childs was seventh for the Knights.
Ryan Chambers was also seventh at 124 pounds.
Shawn Miller took eighth at 106 pounds.
“This is always a highly competitive tournament and very well-run. I thought our guys wrestled well for our opener. The competition is so deep, every match is tough,” said Eisenhower head coach Jared Lindell. “We had a lot of tough, close matches that hopefully our younger guys learned from, with so many great wrestling programs competing, it gave our guys the opportunity to gain some valuable experience. I thought Ryan Chambers and Shawn Miller wrestled well all weekend.”
Eisenhower finished 11th with 78 points and Warren was 15th with 63.5 points.
