Dragon boys hoops routs Fairview 78-51

FAIRVIEW — Warren scored 25 points in each of the second and third quarters and blew out Fairview, 78-51, on Friday at Fairview High School.

Warren senior Braylon Barnes had 14 points in the third quarter and finished with 29 for the game. Senior teammate Brady Berdine added 18 points and Tommy Nyquist 10 as the Dragons improve to 6-0 overall.

“Easy buckets were the result of hard work,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “I told them before the game, ‘talent without hard work equals losses.’ The style we like to play can create some havoc, but to get the game into that flow takes effort and focus.”

Ten Dragons scored, and Warren connected on eleven 3-pointers, with many baskets coming in transition.

“The back-line guys in our press did a tremendous job tonight,” added coach Berdine, “making reads once we were able to get into it. We created turnovers, hit the offensive glass, and made some 3’s… In the second and third quarters, I thought we shared the ball better and the open guys made shots.”

Earlier on Friday, Landon Wood led Warren with 11 points in a 45-36 junior varsity loss.
