STATE COLLEGE -- Warren senior and District 10 champion Braddock Damore is four shots off the lead after day one of the PIAA 3A Boys Golf Championships at Penn State University's Blue Course.
Damore shot an opening-round, 2-under-par 70 that has him tied for seventh with 18 holes remaining on Tuesday. St. Joe's Prep's Aidan Farkas and Plum's Wes Lorish both shot 6-under 66 to tie for the first-round lead.
"I like the position I put myself into," said Damore, who became a D10 champion 35 years after his father and golf pro Pat Damore won a D10 title.
"I feel comfortable and good about it," said Braddock, "and I just need to stay calm, cool and collected tomorrow and play my game."
Damore had four birdies and four bogeys in his opening round and an eagle-3 on the 18th hole to send him into the second round. He shot a 37 on the front nine and 33 on the back nine.
Damore tees off at 10:10 a.m. today for the second and final round.
