TITUSVILLE — Warren’s Morgan Alexander and Cassidy Britton earned individual medals to help the Lady Dragons finish fifth out of 19 teams on Saturday at the Rocket Invitational cross country meet.
Warren’s boys were 17th of 24 teams in Titusville.
“We had a great opener to our season at Titusville,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “About 50 percent of this team had never run a cross country race or the higher, varsity distance before. That left a lot of question marks to how everyone would do.
“Morgan Alexander and Cassidy Britton led the charge for our girls’ varsity team, coming away with hardware, finishing 10th and 16th, respectively,” said Dustin. “The boys were led by Cameron Williams, who narrowly missed a medal. We came away from this meet learning a lot about ourselves, gaining valuable experience, and knowing what we need to work on for the rest of the season.”
Alexander, a sophomore, finished 10th out of 170 individuals, finishing the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes, 35 seconds. Britton, a junior, was 16th in 21:07. Sophomore Jahzara Hunter was 31st in 22:06, freshman Emma Peterson 41st in 22:24, sophomore Loralei Johnson 86th in 24:27, sophomore Riley Evan 95th in 25:08, sophomore Cayci Kramer 103rd in 25:25, freshman Mara Dussia 115th in 25:50, and sophomore Brady Caudill 161st in 31:18.
The Lady Dragons finished less than 10 points from third as a team.
Williams, a junior, paced Warren’s boys with a 28th place finish out of 222 in 17:58. Sophomore Emre Morgan was next in 73rd place in 19:24, junior Michael Bojaczko was 115th in 20:19, sophomore Cole English 129th in 20:51, senior Christopher Joblon 139th in 21:07, freshman Sam White 143rd in 21:17, and freshman Gavin Heeter 145th in 21:24, sophomore Parker Mowrey 192nd in 23:48, sophomore Jack Monroe 200th in 24:13, and freshman Jonathan Bojaczko in 206th in 25:06.
