RUSSELL — The Eisenhower football program will be conducting its fourth annual flag football games on Saturday at the varsity field.
“We are pleased to be continuing this fun activity for kids once again this year,” Knights head varsity coach Jim Penley said. “This is open for all boys and girls third through sixth grade. Games are played in a 7-on-7 mode with only passing. Games are played in round-robin style with as many teams as kids that show up.”
Eisenhower began the league during COVID-19 when activities were limited for children to play outside. Since that time, the program has garnered a solid core group to play each year. The games are patterned after the pickup games their parents played when they were growing up. The goal is for children to get a chance to play and have fun. No practices, no parent involvement, just an opportunity to play with other youngsters in the community.
“There is absolutely no cost to play and it is put on and coached by Eisenhower football players, and is used as an outreach to the Warren County community,” Penley said.
Youngsters should report to the field at 11:45 p.m. Games will start about noon.
