‘Outs for Olive’ benefit game is set for Aug. 23

Play ball!

And we’re not just talking about K9 Olive.

Warren County Law Enforcement will take on the Jamestown Oldtimers in a charity baseball game — “Outs for Olive” — at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Diethrick Park in Jamestown.

While Warren County Sheriff’s Office K9 Olive would probably prefer to chew up a baseball all night, proceeds from the event will benefit the Warren County School Resource Officer Program and WCSO K9 Olive.

The price of admission is a donation, and a basket raffle is being held by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at Warren County Fair and in conjunction with this ballgame.

“This fundraiser is a blast for all involved,” said SRO Deputy Josh Warmath. “We had no issue getting people to play in the game. We had great feedback from last year’s game and we are excited for this year’s game.

“Olive is patiently awaiting the start of the Warren County school year,” said Warmath. “She was a great addition to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office School Resource program. At the beginning of school last year, Olive was there to help students that were feeling anxious, especially new kindergarten students. To ease the nerves transitioning away from parents, Olive walked up to the front doors with new students, which had a huge impact on setting the stage for a positive school experience. Olive also helped ease the pain with students who recently lost a loved one or a pet during the school year; whether that be as a pal to lay on and listen or play a game of fetch in the hallway. The community has given great feedback on Olive’s presence in the WCSD and she is ready for the 2023-2024 school year. Even though it’s summer and there’s no school, Olive has continued to keep busy. She spends time at the courthouse and can be found in the courtroom during hearings or playing fetch with the Sheriff. She spent the last week enjoying the Warren County Fair. We at the Sheriff’s Office are blessed to have her as part of our team.”

People who wish donate, can by mail to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office K9 Olive Fund at 407 Market St. Warren, PA 16365, or call (814) 723-7553 for any questions.
