RUSSELL — On Tuesday, Warren’s girls hosted their first Region 3 Mega Match at Blueberry Hill Golf Club.
The Lady Dragons finished third out of four teams with a score of 179 — behind McDowell (127) and Meadville (159) and ahead of Erie High (184). However, the match meant a bit more than numbers.
“They are improving every day,” said Warren coach Nate Sandberg. “They are getting a good handle on what they need to improve upon and learning from their mistakes. To compete as their own team is something that hasn’t been done in about 10 years. I am thrilled to be able to compete in the region again.”
Kate Shippee had the top Warren score on the abbreviated course with a 55, followed by Madeline Walker (58) and Katherine Smith (66) to account for team scoring. Teammate Marissa Palmieri shot an 82 and Lexi Paris 89.
McDowell teammates Alexis Marsh and Analise Wolf tied for medalist honors at 42 apiece, and teammate Genelia Kang shot a 43.
