The Warren Hogs, sponsored by Dr. Damien Horner, took on the Otto Eldred Nippers at home under the lights following their sixth-grade recognition ceremony. The Hogs recognized 19 sixth graders in their final season playing in the Warren County Youth Football League.

Otto Eldred won the coin toss and elected to receive. On the first play from scrimmage, a botched handoff resulted in a Johnathan Sullivan fumble recovery, giving the Hogs the ball on the 35-yard line. Two plays later, Blake Peterson took the handoff and raced 34 yards for a quick opening score. Ty Bryan added a 1-point conversion on a run to the left.

The Hogs’ defense dominated the next possession, causing a quick three-and-out. A couple of runs by Blake Peterson and Owen Damcott set up the Hogs deep in Otto Eldred territory, and Ty Bryan connected with Blake Peterson on a swing pass to put the Hogs comfortably ahead by two scores.

On the ensuing possession, the Hogs’ defense again held the Nippers with strong play from their defensive line. After a quick change of possession, the Hogs took over on their own 49-yard line. Ty Bryan connected with Blake Peterson on a deep pass and Peterson took care of the rest as he scampered 51 yards untouched for another first-quarter Hogs’ touchdown. Peterson added the 1-point conversion run to put the Hogs up 20-0 late in the first quarter.

From there, the defense continued to dominate, as the defensive line remained disruptive and lived in the Otto Eldred backfield.

The second quarter featured the Hogs second-string offense and continued dominance from the defense. Late in the second quarter, Harrison Horner recovered a fumble inside the Otto Eldred 5-yard line. Ty Bryan subbed back in for a play and capped off the drive with an 8-yard rushing touchdown. Luke Baxter added the 1-point conversion on a run to the right to make the score 27-0.

The Hogs received the ball to start the second half, and the second-string offense began to pick up steam and drive the ball. However, several drives ended in punts as Bryan pinned Otto Eldred deep in their own territory several times.

In the fourth quarter, Jaret Lang capped off a long drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to seal the game with a 33-0 lead.

Bryan finished the game 3 for 3 with 66 yards passing and two touchdowns to Peterson, as well as an 8-yard rushing touchdown, a 1-point conversion and a tackle. Peterson finished the game with 115 yards on just four touches, with two receiving touchdowns and a rushing touchdown, and one tackle defensively. Owen Damcott finished the game with 51 rushing yards. Jaret Lang had 27 yards rushing with a touchdown and 1 tackle. Landon Lutton added 22 yards rushing and two tackles. Luke Baxter finished the game with 9 yards rushing and a 1-point conversion. Shaun Lauderdale added 5 yards on the ground and two tackles. Eli Lutton added 3 yards rushing and Emmett Snyder added a 2-yard reception. Lucas Sorensen had a pass deflection. Oliver Drescher added 2 tackles and a tackle for a loss.

The defensive line rotation was dominant, led by two tackles for a loss by Leeland Brown, two tackles for a loss by Brody Connolly, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery by Harrison Horner, and one tackle, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery by Johnathan Sullivan. Chance Farnsworth, Eli Dodge, and Isaac Bleech each added a tackle.

The Week 1 Offensive Player of the Game and Defensive Player of the Game, sponsored by CTI Physical Therapy, Complete Roofing Systems, Barnhart Napa Auto Parts, Pipeworks Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, and Sugar Grove American Legion, were Ty Bryan (Offensive Player of the Week) and Owen Damcott (Defensive Player of the Week).

The Week 2 Offensive Player of the Game was Blake Peterson, while the Defensive Player of the Game was Harrison Horner in the dominant 33-0 win.

The Warren Hogs (2-0) travel to Emporium to play Cameron County on Sept. 9. Cameron County (2-0) is coming off a 26-6 win over the Kane Tornadoes.
