Carl Seeker hosted his 35th annual Summer Beast Powerlifting meet on Saturday at his gym, S&C Powerplant and Tanning on Liberty Street. The meet was attended by about 20 lifters. The day concluded with a 625-pound deadlift by Carl Stull of McAlisterville, and a 370-pound bench press by Geno Riley of Brookville.
Seeker himself still holds the record for Warren County’s biggest deadlift, pulling 750 pounds. He also held the record for the biggest bench until March 2023, when Alex Shaw surpassed it with a 725-pound bench press at Seeker’s Beast of the Northeast Meet held at the Days Inn.
In addition to Stull and Riley, several local lifters put up impressive numbers at the Summer Beast Meet. Teagan Paris earned first place in her division with a 355-pound deadlift. Buster Godden earned first in his division with a 295-pound bench press and a 270-pound deadlift.
Alex Shaw helped with handoffs and coaching at the meet. He is also the trainer at S&C Powerplant and Tanning. He trains locally and at GOONfit out of Youngstown, Ohio, and is a member of the Steel Valley Metal Militia.
Krystle Ransom earned first in her division with an equipped 195-pound bench press and an equipped 315-pound deadlift. Ransom also recently started prospecting for the Steel Valley Metal Militia, showing great promise in both equipped and raw lifting.
Michelle Pritzl also earned herself a first place in her division with a 185-pound bench press.
This team trains together several times a week. They are all dedicated to powerlifting.
Seeker’s next meet will be held Nov. 4 at the Allegheny Community Center in Salamanca.
