Photo submitted to Times Observer Warren senior shortstop Lexi Hoffman, pictured with parents on Senior Day, was voted a Region 5 first-team all-star by the region’s coaches.

In a tough year for Warren’s softball team that ended at 5-13 overall and without a playoff appearance, senior Alexis Hoffman’s versatility was rewarded.

Hoffman was a First-Team all-region all-star outfielder as a junior and, this season, was voted a First-Team Region 5 all-star at shortstop.

“Lexi deserves this recognition,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart, whose Dragons were 4-5 before a season-ending injury to their starting pitcher. “(Lexi) stepped into a new position — shortstop — her senior season and did a tremendous job. She became a leader on the field and was a continuous threat in the batter’s box (batting over .400 for the second straight season). Numerous times she was clutch for us this season and it’s nice to see her being recognized for all her effort.”

The all-region teams and region players and pitchers of the year were voted on by the coaches.
