Union City hands Ike track losses

UNION CITY — The Eisenhower track & field teams suffered road losses on Monday to Union City.

The girls narrowly 74-71, but there were many athletes who had outstanding efforts on the day.

The 3,200-meter relay the team of Maddie Cathcart, Peyton Kellogg, Emily Grosch and Esther Reagle took first place. Kellogg also took third in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. While Reagle took second place in both the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters. Grosch ran well, too, placing second in the 400 meters and managed a third place in the 800 meters.

Marissa Gourley placed second in both the 100 meters and 300-meter hurdles. In the jumping events, Bella Marino won the high jump; Sophia Martin claimed the pole vault and the long jump; and Lily Cathcart placed second in the triple jump.

In the throwing events, Eisenhower’s Mackenzie Dunn took first in both the shot put and discus, while Logan Grove placed second in the shot put and won the javelin.

The boys meet also had some outstanding performances turned in by the Knights.

The team of Mikael Beaver, Ryan Chambers, Benji Bauer and Austin Hannold won the 400-meter relay and the team of Drew Mandeville, JE Unida, Bryceton Wilkins and Joe Mistretta won the 1,600-meter relay.

Hannold and Mandeville took first and respectively in the 100 meters; Mandeville also placed third in the 400 meters; and Chambers won the 200 meters while Wilkins placed third.

Joe Mistretta just missed winning both hurdle events, placing first in the 300-meter hurdles and second in the 110 hurdles. TJ McAuley took third in both the 110- and 300-meter high hurdles.

Bauer took second in the shot put while Caleb Penley placed third in the discus. Bauer also placed third in the triple jump and Chambers placed second in the long jump.
