Warren split a meet and Region 4 titles with Seneca on Tuesday at War Memorial Field.
“Today was for the region championship for both boys and girls teams,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin, whose Lady Dragons won 91-59 to finish 4-0 in the region.
“We knew Seneca had strong teams on both sides,” added Dustin. “The boys team fought hard, but were ultimately out-done, finishing 3-1 in region competition. The girls team, however, put together a great effort to win the region and have an undefeated season. Very proud of both teams this year and a special congratulations to the girls team, who worked hard and earned a perfect season. We are looking to get some last-minute qualifiers in on Friday and getting ready to compete at the District 10 Championships.”
In the girls meet, Lindsay Madigan (13.1 seconds), Laney Gatto (13.4) and Maddie Nosel (13.7) finished 1-2-3 in the 100-meter dash. Madigan also won the triple jump in 34 feet, 3 inches.
Lilly Newton and Nosel were 1-2 in the 200 meters in 27.4 and 28.0, respectively. Newton also won the 400 meters in 1:01.2 and the high jump in 4-10.
Senior Shyann Rulander — committed to Allegheny College for cross country and track — won the 1,600 meters in 5:33.4 and was second in the 800 meters and 3,200 meters.
Hannah Pearson edged Rulander in the 3,200 meters in 12:58.3.
Zoe Rodgers won discus at 88-6. Jenna Kophazy won javelin at 106-4. Katrina Seamens finished first in shot put with a throw of 27-8. Gatto’s 9-foot height took pole vault.
In Warren’s boys’ 116-34 loss, Parker Shene won the 100 meters in 11.9 and long jump in 19-5. He was second in triple jump. Ethan Best was second in both hurdles and the 200 meters, and Corban Reinard a strong third in the 800 meters. Sam Lindell was second in the 1,600 meters.
