ERIE — Two days after a District 10 2A silver medal in singles, Warren’s Logan Fincher joined teammate Mark Lynds to finish second at the D-10 Doubles Championships on Wednesday at Westwood Racquet Club.

“They played well together, really worked off of each others strengths,” said Warren coach Travis Myler.

After victories over Grove City’s second team (8-2), Sharon’s first team (8-4) and Cathedral Prep’s second team (10-6), Fincher and Lynds dropped an 0-6, 0-6 championship match to Prep’s first doubles — Jonah Ng and Hayden Hutchinson. Ng is last year’s D-10 singles champ and was fourth in the state.

“We made it to the finals,” said Myler. “Got the No. 2 seed (and had) a couple solid wins, but Prep was too good.”

Both seniors, Fincher and Lynds haven’t played their last matches with the D-10 team championships Friday.

“Logan has worked hard to become a complete player,” said Myler. “He’s become a much better athlete this year, which has really helped make the difference. Mark is one of the most competitive kids we’ve ever had. He’s got the right mentality to push any opponent to the brink … Logan and Mark are 1 and 2, the top guys. Both are going to be exceptionally difficult to replace. We need guys who are going to step it up and work as hard as those two have.”

On Friday, “as Region 1 champs, we play the runner-up of Region 2, which is Fairview,” said Myler. “Prep, as the Region 2 champ, plays Greenville, the runner-up from our region.”
