Eagles send track seniors out in style with wins
YOUNGSVILLE — The Youngsville track & field team sent its seniors out in style with a pair of close victories during Tuesday action at Youngsville High School.
Both the boys and girls teams won by identical four-point margins with the boys winning 71-67 and the girls claiming a 69-65 triumph.
“I’m very proud of all of today’s athletes,” said Youngsville coach John Victor. “It’s a great way to go out for our seniors. Now, it’s time to get ready for districts.”
Seniors Ethan Senz and Blake Myers had the most decorated of the days for the Eagles with three victories each. Myers was a winner in the javelin, long jump and high jump while Senz was victorious in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400-meter relay with Talon Mesel, Ethan Beers and Koby Hendrickson. Senz led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100-meter dash ahead of Mesel in second and Dawson Burt in third.
Hendrickson added an individual win in the 110-meter hurdles, Beers won the long jump and both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relay teams finished first. The 1,600-meter relay team consisted of Logan McDonald, Thomas Jukes, Michael Rafanello and Kale Jespersen while the 3,200-meter relay was comprised of Michael Bojaczko, McDonald, Jukes and Jespersen.
On the girls side, it was a solid mix of youth and experience that helped Youngsville to the victory. Freshman Riley Robinault led the Eagles with four wins, claiming first in the 100 meters, high jump, long jump and 400-meter relay alongside Lilly Clough, Alyssa Howell and Zaylee Cressley. Senior Malea Jenkins won three events in the field, winning the javelin, shot put and discus.
Also winning for Youngsville on Tuesday were Cassidy Britton, who was a two-time winner in the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters, and Cressley also added an individual win in the 200 meters.
