Warren boys tennis suffers close loss
ERIE — Warren’s boys tennis team suffered its second straight 3-2 loss to its second straight Region 2 crossover opponent McDowell on Monday.
After a 3-2 loss to visiting Fairview on Saturday at Betts Park, the Region 1 Dragons fell to 4-2 overall in a close loss at the Trojans.
“Mark Lynds played exceptionally well in his second singles win,” said Warren coach Travis Myler. “Hugh Harrison and Brody Alexander learned from the weekend loss to Fairview to drop a potent second doubles team.
Lynds earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Krish Jain. At top singles, McDowell’s two-time District 10 Class 3A singles champion, senior Aaron Heinlein swept Warren’s Logan Fincher, 6-0, 6-0. At third singles, Eric Cui — a D10 3A doubles champ a season ago — topped Warren’s Abe Wolf, 6-2, 6-1.
Harrison and Alexander pulled out a 7-5, 7-5 victory over McDowell’s Daniel Idzik and Christian Neubert 7-5, 7-5. At top doubles, McDowell’s Noah Hardesty and Gridley Wright held off Warren’s Adam and Owen Strandburg 6-2, 6-4 to take the team win.
