‘What an honor’

Warren’s McAllister picked for PSFCA East/West Game

Warren senior Alan McAllister has been picked to play in the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association East/West Game on May 21 in Harrisburg.

“We received word over the weekend that Alan McAllister has been selected to participate in the (PSFCA Small School East-West Game) as a defensive tackle,” said former Warren head coach Mark Morelli, who nominated the senior standout in November. “I felt since I had coached in the East-West Game in 2021 that our kids are talented enough to be able to play in this type of a game.”

The District 10 Region 4 all-star on both sides of the ball registered 31 tackles — nine of which went for a loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble as a senior defensive lineman.

“What an honor for Alan,” said Morelli. “I am not sure if Warren has ever had someone selected to play in these Pennsylvania state all-star games. If they have, it has been a while.

“Alan was a four-year starter on the line for Warren, a two-time regional all-star, and a two-time winner of the Lineman of the Year Award at Warren,” added Morelli. “He has also been selected to play in this year’s Big 30 game to be held in Bradford along with (senior teammates) Nick Pennucci and Cayden Wright. He recently has announced his decision to continue playing football at Edinboro. Alan and Micah Passmore are the only four-year starters we have had at Warren; that is not easy for a freshman to do in D10. Alan was definitely a force on defense and teams had to be aware as to where he lined up. Our defensive line coaches, Kevin Reagle and Andrew Egger, were instrumental in his success on the field, and I know he spent alot of time with coach Eric Rozanski in the weight room. They deserve credit for this honor as well.”

McAllister is one of two District 10 players selected for the game, including Slippery Rock receiver John Sabo.

Todd Silfies from Kane will be the West head coach for the small-school game.

The small-school game will be held at noon on Sunday, May 21, at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg. The large-school game will follow that same day there at 5 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
