Warren falls to Franklin in Region 6

FRANKLIN — Franklin’s 24-8 third quarter helped the Knights pull away from Warren in a 69-48 Region 6 basketball matchup on Friday at Franklin Area High School.

Jalen Wood connected on two of his four 3-pointers in the third quarter after the Dragons trailed by just four points at the half.

“It was a poor start to the second half after a late 3 by them gave them momentum to end the first half,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “We have to improve defensively to beat the better teams. We’ll go to work tomorrow to clean up some of the mental mistakes and defensive lapses.”

Franklin, which also topped the Dragons 68-62 in Warren, improves to 14-4 overall and 6-0 in Region 6. Warren falls to 10-7 overall and 3-3 in the region.

Cole Buckley finished with 16 points in the win and Wood and Jonathan Leccia added 14 and 13 respectively for the Knights.

Brady Berdine led the Dragons with 17 points and Tommy Nyquist added 12.

In Warren’s 43-28 junior varsity loss, Jacob McMeans led the Dragons with 14 points and Eric Dippold contributed 10.
