Warren swimmers had a field day Monday, winning nearly every event in a sweep of Mercyhurst Prep at the Warren YMCA.

In a 142-24 Lady Dragons’ win, senior Kirsten Johnson won the 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter backstroke; Leyna Irwin the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter breaststroke; Lucy Harrison the 50-meter freestyle; Summer Lucks, 100-meter butterfly; Samantha Caudill, 100-meter freestyle; and Katie Krogler qualified for districts in winning the 400-meter freestyle.

Warren’s girls swept the individual — including Laney Gatto in diving — and relay events.

The 200-meter medley relay team of Madeline Walker, Violet Spiegel, Lexi Paris and Irwin edged teammates Krogler, Harrison, Lucks and Alicia Collins, 2:30.90 to 2:32.54. Warren’s team of Mackenzie Lester, Spiegel, Harrison and Ellie Yeager edged the team of Walker, Irwin, Collins and Adriana Bango in the 200-meter freestyle relay, 2:19.85 to 2:21.21. Harrison, Lucks, Krogler and Caudill easily won the 400-meter freestyle relay.

In Warren’s 72-37 boys win, Jacob Retterer may have had the closest finish of the night, bettering Mercyhurst Prep’s Caleb Ryan, 2:28.45 to 2:28.53, to win the 200-meter freestyle. Retterer also finished first in the 100-meter backstroke; Drake Niemitz won the 200-meter individual medley and 400-meter freestyle; Jarod Peterson the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle; and Hugh Harrison, 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter breaststroke.
