Lady Dragons rout Oil City

OIL CITY — Warren’s girls basketball team won its sixth straight game Monday in a 65-23 Region 5 win at Oil City.

Ten Dragons put points on the board on offense and Warren has held opponents to single digits in eight straight quarters.

“I will say it again, this team is extremely unselfish,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan, whose Dragons are 13-6 overall and 7-0 and in first place in the region. “They just want to win for each other and share the ball perfectly.”

Halle Kuzminski scored 7 points and Gracie Ruhlman added 5 in Warren’s 19-4 first quarter.

Sammie Ruhlman led Warren for the game with 13 points and seven assists, freshman Meea Irwin also had 13 points — including 6 for 6 at the line, and Kuzminski finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Alana Stuart had four steals in the win.

“The team is taking steps forward every day,” said LaVan. “Road warriors. Our early season tough road schedule helped with that.”

In a 44-35 junior varsity win, Irwin led Warren with 11 points, and Peyton Wotorson and Emily Foster had 10 apiece.
