UNION CITY — Eisenhower traveled to Union City on Tuesday night and came away with a hard-fought 62-52 win over the Bears.

The Knights’ Johnny Palmieri opened up the game with a deep 3-pointer from the corner, and it was a lead they would never relinquish.

Union City was at a serious height disadvantage against the taller Knights and the Bears came out shooting from the perimeter, employing that tactic for the entire game.

The Knights were more methodical in their offense as all of their starters were in double figures, led by senior Wyatt Lookenhouse with 15 points.

Eisenhower led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter as Kris Bunk and Palmieri each had 3-pointers. Lookenhouse added 4 points in the quarter. The Bears’ Josh James hit three of his five 3-pointers in the first quarter.

The Knights slowly built their lead behind Bunk’s 6 points in the second quarter and led at the half 30-23.

James added two more 3-pointers as Union City cut the lead to six at one point in the third quarter, but Lookenhouse hit a 3-pointer from deep in the corner and totaled 5 points in the quarter to keep Eisenhower’s eight-point advantage to start the fourth quarter.

The Bears were forced to foul and the Knights made them pay by hitting seven free throws in the fourth quarter. Lookenhouse and Kyler Black each hit a 3-pointer in the final eight minutes.

The Bears were led by Josh James’ 15 points.

In jayvee action, Eisenhower won 40-36. The Knights were led by Jayden Chase, who tallied 15 points, while Trevin Capela led the Bears with 17 points.

Eisenhower will close out its season on the road Friday when they face county rival Youngsville.
