Warren’s girls basketball team is 2-0 in Region 5 after a 60-19 win over Oil City on Thursday at Warren Area High School.
Halle Kuzminski and Sammie Ruhlman combined for 13 points in Warren’s 17-4 first quarter, and the Dragons were off and running. Ruhlman led nine Lady Dragon scorers with 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
“We have great depth and it has been fun to show it off more and more,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan, whose Dragons are 8-6 overall. “I firmly believe a lot score, too, because Sammie shares the ball well and gets them in good places.”
Kuzminski finished with 11 points and eight rebounds and Alana Stuart and Alyssa Farr had five steals apiece.
Warren shut out Oil City (8-5 overall and 1-1 in the region) in the third quarter.

“The girls love to just go — on offense and on defense,” said LaVan. “Fun way to play the game.”
Peyton Wotorson and Farr connected on 3-pointers in the 14-0 third quarter, and Gracie Ruhlman added 4 of her 6 points.
Warren’s varsity bounced back after a nonregion loss to DuBois on Saturday snapped its four-game win streak.
In a 56-34 junior varsity win on Thursday, Emma Roell scored 17 points for Warren and Wotorson had 16.
