Sheffield wrestlers competed in tournament action at Hickory High School over the weekend, bringing home five medals. A.J. Barnes placed sixth, Trenton Mead, Chase Kyler and Collin Brown both placed fourth, and Matt Lobdell placed eighth.

Sheffield Head Coach Tom Holden was impressed with the effort from all the wrestlers moving forward rounds and scoring team points. Sheffield placed eighth out of 22 teams participating.

“It was good to see our kids wrestling with such determination and seeing it pay off for them,” said Holden. “Our coaching staff compliments each other very well, including our volunteer coaches and the kids are working hard.”

Sheffield was without five kids due to illness and another due to a family emergency, yet still finished higher than any other District 9 team.
