CORRY — Eisenhower found its shot Wednesday night and defeated Northwestern 90-71 in the consolation game of the Jim Groce Holiday Tournament at Corry High School.

Wyatt Lookenhouse had the hot hand for the Knights as he led all scorers with 29 points.

He had help, though, as Kyler Black pumped in 21 points and Kris Bunk chipped in 14.

Eisenhower, which led the whole game, jumped out to a 19-14 first-quarter lead with the help of a stingy defense and a 10-2 scoring run at the end of the period.

The Knights were on fire from behind the arc in the second quarter as Lookenhouse and Kael Hunt connected on a pair of 3-pointers and Johnny Palmieri also chipped in one to widen their lead to 44-31 at the half.

Eisenhower played solid defense, continued their hot shooting and built their lead to 16 points at one point in the third quarter, but the Wildcats’ Landon Wayne connected on four 3-pointers to narrow the deficit to 65-56 heading into the final eight minutes.

In the final period, the Knights connected on 7 of 9 free throws to put the game out of reach.

Jack Miller led Northwestern with 27 points, including seven 3-pointers, and Wayne added 23, 21 in the second half on the strength of five makes from beyond the arc.

“I thought the guys moved the ball very well and Kael Hunt did a nice job of controlling the pace,” Eisenhower coach Ryan Mangini said. “It was our best offensive game of the season so far.”
