Kinzua Wrestling Club hosts mental skills seminar
The Kinzua Wrestling Club will offer a “mental skills training” seminar for all junior/senior high school wrestlers/athletes, at their new home, 200 Struthers Street (i.e., former Riverside Bowling Alley) on Thursday.
There is no cost for the session and is open to any adolescent athlete (grades 8-12) who wants to enhance the “mental game” for their sport.
Most wrestlers (and athletes in general) believe their sport is 60-80% mental; yet coaches who often spend two hours a day in tactical/technical preparation, dedicate little if any time for the practice of mental skills. This seminar, which is not sport-specific, will run from 6-7:15 p.m. and focus on teaching athletes how to relax and re-focus during their competitions (parents are also invited to take part).
Dr. Dennis Johnson, National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) leadership consultant and Eisenhower assistant wrestling coach will present the seminar. Please contact 704-989-2520 for more information.
