Warren boys shut out Eisenhower 6-0
In a county battle of familiar faces and travel teammates, Warren’s boys soccer team shut out Eisenhower 6-0 on Tuesday at War Memorial Field.
Warren’s win moves the Dragons to 11-2 in Region 4 in anticipation of the District 10 2A playoffs. Eisenhower is 4-9 in the region. Both teams have one region game remaining in the regular season.
“It’s nice to see talented soccer players from the county play in a spirited match and leave it on the field, but smile and talk when it’s over,” said Warren coach Denny Flatt.
For Warren, all the goals were scored by seniors; Jack Darling had three goals and one assist, Parks Ordiway two goals and three assists, and Mark Lynds one goal.
Sophomore Finn Ordiway and freshman Logan Crissey each added an assist in the win.
Senior keeper Will Nebinski had six saves for Warren, and combined with Jack Lynds for the Dragons’ eighth shutout of the season.
Both Nebinski and Eisenhower’s Case Seymour fought off penalty kicks in the match.
Warren defenders Ethan Best, Corban Reinard, Dakota Sliter, Lynds and Quinn Norris combined for 64 tackles and held the Knights to limited opportunities in the match — even with talented Ike forward Logan Degnan pressing.
Warren hosts Titusville on Thursday at War Memorial Field. Eisenhower travels to Oil City to finish out its regular season.
