DuBOIS -- Sheffield defeated DuBois Central Catholic Tuesday on the road in five sets, 25-14, 17-25, 26-24, 23-25 and 15-13. This was the Wolverines third straight victory bringing their season record even at 5-5.
"Such close scores in the last three sets tonight," said Sheffield Head Coach Melissa Lemay. "It was a back and forth battle to the end. I'm so glad that the girls were able to dig deep and get the win."
Emily Foster had 23 digs, nine kills and seven blocks; Lexi Goldthwaite had 11 kills, four aces, 14 digs and three blocks; Kassidy Orinko added 14 kills; and Kadence Steffan had 36 assists, surpassing the 1,000 assist mark tonight.
"It made celebrating Kadence's accomplishment more special," Lemay said of the hard fought win. "Kadence was able to effectively run the offense tonight, getting the ball to six different hitters. She also had four kills tonight. Volleyball is such a team sport, but now and again you have to recognize individual achievements and we are so proud of her. Great team win."
