Sheffield loses to Elk County Catholic in 3

ST. MARYS — Sheffield fell to 5-7 with Tuesday’s loss to Elk County Catholic on the road in three 9-25, 15-25 and 11-25.

“We struggled to pass the ball tonight,” said Sheffield head coach Melissa Lemay. “ECC is always very good, and they serve tough. Our serve receive to target stats were poor making it very difficult to run our offense and giving them way too many free balls. This allowed them to consistently run their offense over and over again.”

Sheffield was well below their team averages for kills and blocks, totaling 11 in each category. Emily Foster led with 10 digs, as the team totaled 35 on the long evening.

“They just can wear you out physically, but we cannot allow them to wear us out mentally,” said Lemay. “Sometimes the mental hurdles keep us from meeting our full potential.”

The junior varsity was also swept. Sheffield will travel to Brockway on Thursday.

Starting at $3.50/week.
