Bradford drops Warren late in Region 6

BRADFORD — Accustomed to a tough matchup each and every time they play, including in the PIAA playoffs a season ago, Warren’s girls soccer team fell late to Bradford 5-3 on Monday.

Warren and Bradford were tied 3-3, but the Owls got two late goals to take the win. The final goal was off a penalty kick.

“It was a super tight match,” said Warren coach Jeremy Bickling. “This was the best we’ve played all season. The girls did a very nice job possessing the ball and building attacks on the Bradford goal. We still have another level we can get to, but tonight was a huge step closer to our potential.”

Warren trailed 2-1 at halftime of the Region 6 match.

Lauren Andersen scored in the first half for Warren with Meea Irwin and Marielle Stanz scoring second-half goals. Ella Ordiway had two assists and Lilly Stanley added another.

Despite the loss, ” … this should be a huge boost to their confidence,” said Bickling. “Seniors Ella Ordiway, Audrey Smith and Lauren Andersen had their best matches of the season. Haley Peterson also had a very nice match in goal. Her abilities and confidence grow each match we play.”
