RUSSELL — It took all of 36 seconds for Eisenhower senior Ellie Eastman to introduce herself to the Iroqouis Braves on Tuesday.

By the time the game was over, Eastman would score five goals, all in the first half, en route to a 9-0 Knights victory in Region 3 play.

“Ellie just played a great game,” Eisenhower head coach Alex Johnson said. “She took advantage of every opportunity given to her. It was fun watching her play a complete game.”

The rain and mud did not bother the Knights at all. They came out attacking from the start and never let up. How aggressive were they? The visitors only pushed the ball into Eisenhower’s end of the field once in the first half.

“We have been working very hard on being aggressive and attacking up the middle and tonight the girls played wonderfully,” Johnson said. “I thought our midfield of Emily Grosch, Callan Gigliotti, Cassie Smelko, Ellie Eastman and Clara Steinberg did such a good job of controlling the ball and finding options forward.”

Julia Gesing tacked on the last goal of the first half to make the score 6-0 at the break. It was Gesing who took over the scoring for the Knights in the second half as she added three more goals to make it 9-0 before Johnson would put in the younger players.

“The best part of the game was to see everyone get so much playing time,” Johnson said. “We work so hard on our fundamentals. It was great to see Shayleigh Albaugh, Olivia Wallace, Jordan Jacob, Emilienne Turbide and Sami Childs step up their play tonight, and go out and play hard and control the game.”

Eisenhower hosts Mercyhurst Prep on Thursday in a key Region 3 matchup. Game time is 4 p.m.
