Several people received black belt promotions at Johnson’s Black Belt Academy this month. In the back row, from the left, are Kyoshi Jenkins, Kyoshi Williams, Sensei Tuller, Kyoshi Anderson and Sensei Krantz (testing board). In the front row are newly promoted Connor Schwanebauer to Sensei first-degree black belt; Hanshi Rick Johnson, chief instructor; and Sensei CJ Mix promoted to Tashi third-degree black belt. Both endured a four-hour testing of martial arts skills and knowledge.
