Oldtimers post baseball victory

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Sparked by a six-run third inning, the Jamestown and Area Oldtimers baseball team downed Girard 16-3 recently at Diethrick Park.

Wade Nelson led the way offensively for the winners with three hits, including a double and a triple. He also walked twice. Ed Baldensperger collected four hits, and Ron Thomas, Jon Sitler and Dave Wortman all added three. All told, the Oldtimers banged out 21 hits.

Girard opened the scoring with two unearned runs in the top of the first, but Baldensperger hurled five shutout innings after that to post the win.

The Oldtimers (4-1) will be back in action on on Sunday when they take on Chester and Greenville at Greenville.
