In a 4-13 rebuilding year, one of Warren baseball’s two seniors — JT Blum — was named a first-team Region 5 all-star this week.

Blum hit .424 (25 for 59) with a .460 on-base percentage. He was 12 of 13 in stolen base attempts.

On defense, Blum played all three outfield positions, second base and shortstop, and he also pitched. He was named all-region by a vote of the region’s coaches as an outfielder.

“I’m super happy for J.T.,” said first-year Warren coach Andrew Morrison. “He is extremely deserving of any recognition he gets and being first-team all-region in our region is a big accomplishment. In my eyes, he was one of the most valuable position players in (District) 10. He did everything I asked of him, which was a lot, and gave us everything he had. He was a tremendous role model for our young team and I’m very grateful for everything he gave us.”

Blum was also named a region all-star in soccer as a senior.
