Tarp Skunks’ errors give game to Muckdogs

BATAVIA — Jamestown led 6-3 in the top of the fourth inning, but Batavia scored seven times during its next two at-bats en route to a 12-6 victory in Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League West Division action Tuesday at Dwyer Stadium.

The Tarp Skunks (2-2) committed six errors, which led to seven unearned runs for the Muckdogs (4-1).

Nate Johnson went 2 for 4 with a run scored and Jordan King went 2 for 3 with a run scored for Jamestown.

The Tarp Skunks led 3-0 after the top of the first inning. Yogi Hartigan led off with a walk and went to second on a wild pitch before Henry Martinez walked. Johnson then singled to left field to load the bases. Cody Bey hit a one-out sacrifice fly before Johnson and Martinez scored on wild pitches.

Batavia tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning before Jamestown tacked on three more runs in the fourth. Bey reached on an error and King hit an infield single ahead of Johnny Kampes’ RBI Single. After another wild pitch, Jack Davis hit a two-run single to right field.

Eight of Batavia’s 10 hitters in the lineup recorded a hit.

Derek Benzinger, Ryan Rafalski and Johnson combined to strike out five while walking six and allowing eight hits.

Jamestown is scheduled to visit the Auburn Doubledays at 7:05 p.m. today.
