Dragons honored in 18 Region 3 spots

Warren’s boys and girls track teams compete in different classification (3A and 2A, respectively), but represented both in the District 10 Region 3 track and field all-stars released this week.
For the co-region champion Lady Dragons, based on submissions from region coaches, First-Team all-Region 3 all-stars included: sophomore Laney Gatto in the 100-meter dash and long jump along with junior Shyann Rulander in the 1,600 meters; and freshman Marissa Gourley in the 300-meter hurdles. Second-teamers included the 400-meter relay team of junior Gracie Gatto, Laney Gatto, sophomore Alexia Bowers and freshman Lindsay Madigan; the 3,200-meter relay made up of senior Katie Beyer, Rulander, freshman Charlotte Keeports and junior Kirsten Johnson; and Madigan for the triple jump.
For the boys, competing in 3A, junior Corban Reinard was voted a First-Team all-star in the 800 meters; junior Ethan Best, 300-meter hurdles, and Best was on the First Team in the 1,600-meter relay with seniors Ben White, Ricky Madril and Graham Carr. Reinard also joined the First-Team 3,200-meter relay with Carr, freshman Sam Lindell and sophomore Hugh Harrison. Dragons on the Second Team all-stars included the 400-meter relay made up of White, senior Arick Allen, junior Cayden Wright and Best.
“To add a great ending to an already great season, we are proud of our region all-stars,” said Warren track coach Kevin Dustin. “These kids worked hard to earn the top or second-best performance in their events. Their commitment and drive really paid off.”
In Region 5, Eisenhower junior Ethan Nizzi was named a Second-Team all-star in the pole vault while the Knights’ 400-meter relay team of senior Alex Hummel and juniors Keegan Eckstrom, Austin Hannold and Mikael Beaver was named to the First Team.
