Oldtimers sweep doubleheader

The Jamestown Oldtimers recently posted two wins over Salem, Ohio.

Jamestown traveled to Salem on June 11 for a doubleheader and improved its record to 3-1, which currently has the team in first place in the 50-and-over league.

Ed “Baldy” Balderson pitched a gem of game, allowing just one hit over seven innings as Jamestown won 11-0. Ron Thomas had five hits for Jamestown and Brian Ferry added four hits, including two doubles.

In the second game, Winfred “Winnie” Woodard only allowed four hits in five innings pitched while Ron Thomas finished the final two innings and allowed no hits or runs as Jamestown prevailed 10-2.

Thomas and Ferry were again the hitting stars, getting another five and four hits, respectively.

Jamestown committed zero errors in both games.

Jamestown is back at home this Sunday at Diethtrick Park for a nine-inning game against Girard, Ohio starting at noon. Admission is free.
