The Warren County Youth Baseball and Softball Association (WCYBSA) is sending five teams to Little League all-star tournament play.

“We have five teams — Boys Minors (8-10-year-olds) and Majors (11-12), Girls Minors (8-10), Majors (11-12), and Juniors (13-14),” according to WCYBSA president Jeremy Wyman.

Warren’s Boys Majors (11-12) Little League all-stars will open tournament play at home at 6 p.m. on Friday against Mt. Jewett/Smethport at Betts-Jackson Field. There are 11 teams in The Boys Majors’ bracket.

Warren’s 8-10 baseball all-stars open at Kane the following afternoon, on Saturday, in a nine-team bracket.

Warren’s Girls Juniors (13-14) softball all-stars will open at home at 6 p.m. on Wednesday versus St. Marys, likely at the Farm Colony Complex.

Warren’s 8-10 softball all-stars will start on the road at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Punxsutawney.

The local Girls Majors contingent opened on Saturday with a loss at DuBois. The 11-12-year-old group will play next on Wednesday in the losers bracket of the double-elimination tournament.

“This will be the second consecutive year Warren County Little League has had all-star play for the county after a several year hiatus,” said Wyman. “Last year was a learning year for the board concerning all-stars, but we were able to send the girls’ 9-11 and boys’ Intermediates (12-13) to the state tournament. We’ve seen an increase in the number of kids in the league from last year and tons of improvement for our all-star teams. Hopefully we can continue to grow and develop the baseball and softball programs for the county.”
