Jamestown Jackals win pair of games

Jonathan Lee poured in 26 points to lead seven players in double figures as Jamestown completed a weekend sweep in Michigan with a 126-98 win over Flint United on Sunday.

The victory in The Basketball League, which came on the heels of a 110-104 win over the Detroit Hustle on Saturday, raised the Jackals’ record to 15-4, which is good for first place in the Upper Midwest Division.

A game in front of second-place Toledo Glass City (14-5), Jamestown will close out its home schedule at 7 p.m. Wednesday against the Detroit Hustle at the Physical Education Complex at Jamestown Community College.

The Jackals would welcome another performance like the one they put on yesterday at the Dort Event Center.

In addition to Lee’s big game, Lovel Smith and Thomas Garrick both had 15, Bernard Edwards 13, Antwan Wilkerson and Daniel Mulamba 12 apiece and Eric Mack 10. Kareem Davis dished out nine assists.

Jason Watts and Keenan Colemann led Flint United with 20 points apiece, Malk Ellison had 16, and Xavier McDaniel Jr. and Antonio Davis collected 12 apiece.

Saturday’s game against the Detroit Hustle at Loyola High School, was much closer, but balanced scoring was the difference in Jamestown’s win.

Edwards led six players in double figures with 23, Lee had 19, Wilkerson and Julius Brooks 14 apiece, Garrick 13 and Davis 11.

Davon Hayes led the Detroit Hustle with 26 points, Deon Rice and Jody Hill had 25 apiece, and Martell Anderson chipped in 16.
