Sheffield boys run to wins, girls lose
SHEFFIELD — Sheffield’s boys’ varsity track & field team improved to 9-2 with 74-53 and 64-63 wins over Otto-Eldred and Port Allegany Tuesday in a tri-meet on Wolverine Mountain.
The Lady Wolverines fell to 2-9, losing to Otto-Eldred 93-43 and Port Allegany 82-53.
Sheffield’s Alex Eaton, Chase Kyler, Syncere Money and Dylan Hardwick got things off to a good start with a win in the 4×800-meter relay (10:03.01). The Wolverines’ Landon Mead won both the 100 meters (12.06) and 400 meters (56.23) and was a member of the winning 4x100m relay (47.84) with Michael Mihalic, Leihden Wotorson and Lucas McNeal. McNeal also went on to win the high jump (5-8) and triple jump (37-0.5). Gage Mott-Macalush was the lone throwing event winner with a victory in the discus (99-10-).
On the girls side, Emily Foster won the 200 meters (30.51) and high jump (5-0). Madison Mitchell claimed the 400 meters (1:19.00) for the Lady Wolverines’ only other win.
Sheffield will host Youngsville and Eisenhower today.
