Dragons softball wins 4th in 4 days

Warren battled back again, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 Region 5 win over McDowell on Thursday at Lady Dragons Field.

“Another gutty win,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart, whose Dragons are 11-2 and in first place in the region. McDowell is 5-7 in Region 5. “The girls are definitely tired. It’s been a long week. Again, impressed that our whole lineup is contributing and having good at-bats. We need to finish strong tomorrow and go 5-for-5 this week. That would be really something for these girls.”

Trailing 3-2, the Dragons’ took advantage of Carly Beers and Kylie Fehlman reaching via errors to start the bottom of the sixth.

“Ellee (Irwin) sac-bunted them over,” said Stuart. “Miken (Beers) hit a grounder to second that scored Carly, and Katie (Madigan) hit it up the middle to score Kylie.”

Lexi Hoffman had two hits, and starting pitcher Alana Stuart left the bases loaded in the top of the third to keep the game close. She allowed two hits over the final four innings for the win.
