SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — “On a day where you go out at the same height as the number four, three, and second seed in the state of Pennsylvania, I’d say it was a great day at the office.”

That was Sheffield track and field head Coach Jason Snell’s reflection Friday on Emily Foster’s return to the PIAA AA State Championships on Friday at Shippensburg University.

A sophomore, Foster finished 13th while competing at Shippensburg University. The Sophomore came into the championships ranked 22nd out of 28, and after clearing 5 feet, she quickly leaped over the lower half of the competition. Foster nearly made 5-2, the height she was able to reach her freshman year, but Snell feels she is primed to return in her junior year.

“I know she was disappointed that she didn’t repeat as the District 9 Champion last week at Districts, so for her to redeem herself against her fellow D9 opponents today was a great feat in itself,” Snell said. “Two more years with this amazing athlete. This close call, jumping as high as medal winners, is just gonna make her all the more hungry for next year.”

According to Snell, the two-time state qualifier was already planning for next season before she left Seth Grove Stadium, with hopes of attending university camps and getting as much outdoor practice as western Pennsylvania will allow.

“Her participating in as an every season athlete may make it tough to accomplish all her goals and routines, but I am a huge fan of multi-sport athletes and more than encourage her to share her talents in the many other sports she participates in to stay in shape and help her craft of jumping all the more,” said Snell. “Multi-sport athletes are the best athletes. Emily Foster will be back.”
