Lady Dragons shut out LeBoeuf 4-0
WATERFORD — First-place Warren and freshman pitcher Alana Stuart shut out Fort LeBoeuf, 4-0, on Friday, improving to 5-0 in Region 5.
Stuart didn’t give up a hit until the sixth inning and struck out eight. She walked two and hit a batter in the one-hit win, but didn’t allow more than a single base runner in any inning.
“A great defensive game for us,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “Alana hit her spots really well, inducing a lot of grounders and strikeouts. Halle (Kuzminski) and Carly (Beers) did an amazing job (in the infield) not letting the ball get through. I would have liked to have seen us put more runs up, but we got the win and that’s all that matters.”
Lexi Hoffman led off the third inning with a single and scored the game’s first run on an outfield error.
Hoffman’s homer in the fifth also started a three-run inning that was capped off by Stuart’s two-run bomb.
Hoffman and Stuart combined for four of Warren’s six hits.
Fort LeBoeuf is 2-4 in the region.
