BLOOMSBURG — A three-night stay in the Keystone State awaits the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models as they make their first trip to Pennsylvania in 2022.
Three nights of high-octane action at three different tracks highlight May’s Northeast swing, including first-time stops at two facilities.
All three events will be 40-lap, $10,000-to-win features, starting with the World of Outlaws CASE Late Models inaugural appearance at Bloomsburg Fair Raceway in Bloomsburg on May 19. The three-eighths-mile track has only held two Super Late Model events — both won by Rookie of the Year contender and Pennsylvania’s own Max Blair.
The Centerville driver also has two wins at Marion Center Raceway, where The Most Powerful Late Models on the Planet will stop on Friday, May 20. The Connor Bobik Memorial will serve as the first appearance for the World of Outlaws at the quarter-mile bullring.
The weekend’s finale takes the series to the iconic Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal on Saturday, May 21. The “Speed Palace” will host the World of Outlaws Late Models for the eighth time, boasting six different winners in seven races.
Previous Port Royal Winners include Chris Madden in 2021, Mason Zeigler in 2019, Mike Marlar in 2018, Brandon Sheppard in 2017, Clint Smith in 2008 and Darrell Lanigan in 2007.
Madden swept both stops at Port Royal last season, dominating night one and grabbing the lead from Brandon Overton midway through the Billy Vacek Memorial for a $30,000-weekend payday.
A journey through Pennsylvania means it’s the first time Blair and Boom Briggs, of Bear Lake have the chance to bring home state fans to their feet.
Blair is off to a hot start in 2022, scoring three top-fives, including a win at Cherokee Speedway. He also leads the battle for Rookie of the Year over fellow rookie contender Tanner English. Last season, Blair had four top-10s at Pennsylvania tracks.
Briggs will field two cars in his home state that weekend. He’ll be behind the wheel of his patented No. 99B machine, while four-time Series champion Josh Richards will drive the Briggs-owned No. 1R.
Richards is one of the two drivers searching for their fifth World of Outlaws Late Models championship, along with reigning series champion Brandon Sheppard. “The Rocket Shepp” is one win away from tying Richards on the all-time wins list (78) and found Victory Lane at Port Royal in 2017.
Those drivers are chasing Dennis Erb Jr., whose consistent start has propelled him to the top of the points standings — 30 points ahead of Sheppard.
The Carpentersville, Illinois driver leads the charge of World of Outlaws drivers against a stout bunch of regional competitors hoping to keep the full-time competitors out of Victory Lane.
