Warren YMCA to swim at Districts

GENEVA, Ohio -- YMCA West District Championships will be held Friday through Sunday at Spire.

There will be 35 teams competing in the West District. The swimmers had to make a qualifying time to compete at this event. Only the top four in each event will move on, along with the next four fastest across the state.

Competing in the female 9-10-year-old division will be Gabby Bango (50 freestyle, 34.90; 100 freestyle, 1:17.47) and Sydney Frederes (50 freestyle, 31.79; 50 backstroke, 39.21; 50 butterfly, 40.22; 100 freestyle, 1:10.14; 100 individual medley, 1:25.99; 200 freestyle, 2:43.66; 100 backstroke, 1:26.25; and 100 butterfly, 1:27.23).

Competing in the female 11-12-year-old division will be Emma Peterson (50 backstroke, 33.59; 100 breaststroke, 1:23.42; 50 freestyle, 28.93; 200 freestyle, 2:17.17; 50 breaststroke, 36.74; 100 freestyle, 1:03.74; 100 backstroke, 1:12.81; and 500 freestyle, 6:19.88).

Competing in the female 13-14-year-old division will be Samantha Caudill (100 breaststroke, 1:18.83; 500 freestyle, 5:50.15), Leyna Irwin (50 freestyle, 27.11), Lilly Newton (100 breaststroke, 1:18.84; 50 freestyle, 27.77; and 200 individual medley, 2:35.16) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Caudill, Jennifer Giger, Adriana Bango and Lani Wenzel.

Competing in the female 15-21-year-old division will be Kirsten Johnson: (200 backstroke, 2:23.34; 200 individual medley, 2:28.77; and 100 backstroke, 1:05.52).

Competing in the male 9-10-year-old division will be Colin Blair (50 backstroke, 42.81; and 100 freestyle, 1:20.60), Karsen Frederes (100 freestyle, 1:19.33; and 50 backstroke, 41.47), Levi Peterson (50 freestyle, 34.81; and 50 breaststroke, 47.15), Trey Retterer (50 freestyle, 34.61; 50 backstroke, 38.91; 100 freestyle, 1:17.59; 100 backstroke, 1:27.08; and 50 breaststroke, 47.76), Connor Smith (50 freestyle, 35.42), 200 medley relay team of Retterer, Peterson, Blair and Karsen Frederes, and 200 freestyle relay team of Retterer, Peterson, Smith and Karsen Frederes.

Competing in the male 11-12-year-old division will be Landon Frederes (50 backstroke, 28.45; 50 freestyle, 26.61; 100 individual medley, 1:09.48; 200 backstroke, 2:26.63; 100 butterfly, 1:08.92; 200 individual medley, 2:21.05; 100 freestyle, 55:07; 50 butterfly, 30.59; and 100 backstroke, 1:01.66).

Competing in the male 13-14-year-old division will be Drake Niemetz (50 freestyle, 24.61; 400 individual medley, 4:56.50; 200 freestyle, 1:59.70; 100 butterfly, 1:01.65; 200 individual medley, 2:21.09; 100 freestyle, 53.96; 100 backstroke, 1:04.47; and 500 freestyle, 5:28.57), Chris Orth (100 butterfly, 1:12.58), 200 medley relay team of Jacob Retterer, Orth, Niemetz and Aiden Turner, and 200 freestyle relay team of Orth, Turner, Retterer and Niemetz.

Competing in the male 15-21-year-old division will be Max Harrison (100 breaststroke, 1:09.78; 50 freestyle, 22.93; 100 freestyle, 51.83; and 100 backstroke, 59.15).
